Better regulate your emotions. Improve your capacity to connect with others and to handle whatever life throws at you.
We’re all bombarded with thousands of stimuli every day— sounds, sights, interactions with others, and more. Each one of these requires our mind and body to read and respond to what is happening. Much of this happens without even being aware of it and sets in motion all kinds of responses in us. Sometimes these responses are appropriate for the situation but other times our mind, our body, or both overreact creating stress and tension. Over time these reactions can build up and weigh us down.
The shared element in all of this is a part of the nervous system many people have never even heard of: the vagus nerve. The vagus nerve is one of the longest nerves in the body and plays a critical role in regulating or controlling a number of important bodily functions including heart rate, digestion, immune response, and breathing. It is also central to emotional regulation and stimulation of the nerve has been shown to promote relaxation and reduce anxiety. Despite being so important, until recently there was no consistent way to improve the signaling strength of this part of the nervous system. Thankfully, a protocol approach designed by a physician and University of North Carolina School of Medicine faculty member has changed that.
We link this approach, called the “Safe and Sound Protocol”, with guidance and encouragement from a coach so you can improve your nervous system in an emotionally supportive setting. We provide everything you need: access to the protocol, education, and one-on-one coaching sessions before, during, and after.
The protocol itself involves listening to specially filtered music designed to stimulate the vagus nerve. This stimulation exercises the nerve much the way lifting weights exercises and strengthens a muscle. People who have experienced this report greater emotional well-being, better connections with loved ones, less reactivity in challenging situations, and more.
